Stationery Of My Life

I love stationery, I don't know if you know this. I have always loved stationary. After cleaning out a box I found some unused stationery from different times of my life and each have a different story. I thought it would be fun to share these with you!

1. Amelia's Notebook! Oh my gosh, Amelia's Notebooks were on of my favorite things to read growing up and sparked my interest in sketching! She is so quirky and funny and all the illustrations were pretty great. I had the stationary based off the books which are equally quirky and funny.

2. Chococat! Oh my goodness. This really brings me back. Whenever my friends and I would go to the mall we would go to the Sanrio store! And everything was a little too expensive for a 10 year old so we bought pencils, shaped erasers, and sationery! I think I scored a Chococat pillow too.

3. San-X! These cuties were sent to me by my brother. When ever he heard I was having a bad day or had a bad fight with one of my friends, he would always sent something to be from these guys. He also sent me a couple of plushies! What a great brother!

4. Anke Weckmann! From red cap cards. She is so amazing.  And Nick, my fiance, knows how much I love her work... and stationery. So he surprised me and bought me a couple of her cards! She makes the cutest illustrations!

5. Gemma Correll! From All-Mighty. This was another great gift from my bother! See? So great. He also got me a tote and a shirt with her amazing illustrations! So cute!

6. Suzy Ultman! She is so great. So my brother's girlfriend, Natasha, got me this super cute set. It comes with cute doll like notecards but I just wanted to show the envelopes because I love her patterns so much! Natasha did not only give me a christmas present, but she got me inspiration for my senior project that year! So great! :)

Thanks guys!

Happy Wednesday!

Currently working on...

WELL we have been super busy here at Something Nice Designs! From freelance projects to product orders we are not bored here! So here are a couple things we have been working on...

I totally set up camp in the kitchen today. The sun shinning in and the breeze coming in is beyond wonderful and beyond what I thought March would be like! Don't mind the bowl of cat food! Knives has been so nice to share the kitchen table with me!

Well on the first day of spring, March 20th, we will be putting the new "Spring Things Collection" in our Etsy shop! It's going to include shirts, tea towels, bags, prints, and paper goods! We are so excited and here is a sneak peak at it!

Stayed tuned for a spontaneous give away post tomorrow! It's going to be great!

ALSO there is a new collection in the works, they are these awesome water colors done my lovely mother, Susan Sheldon, Co-Captain of Something Nice Designs. Her water colors are so amazing I can't wait for you guys to see them printed on fabric!!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

Minneapolis Finds... Favorite Doughnut Shops

I'm not sure why but I have really been taking any excuse to grab a doughnut lately. So I have found a couple places to go for my sugary fix.

Mojo Monkey Donuts is an amazing little shop in Saint Paul.  I spotted it on the cover of the twin cities Metro Magazine.  Ever since visiting a Ike and Janes in Athens G.A. we have been on the hunt for a bacon doughnut, and you can find one here along other unique items.

A lot of people have suggested the Donut Cooperative to me and I finally went! It is beautiful and sunny inside even on the cold winter day. It would a great place to meet up with someone for a treat.  They have other bakery items like small pizzas. Oh yea, their coffee is amazing! My favorite? The S'more doughnut.

Okay okay okay, I know Isles Buns & Coffee isn't a doughnut shop BUT I can't help it I love it so much, and cinnamon buns are kinda similar right? Well this place is also bright and sunny and I love sitting outside on a nice fall day.  My favorite thing to get is their "Puppy Dog Tails" it's not as overwhelming as a huge bun and goes great with their coffee!

Thanks for reading guys!

What's happening in the studio...

What's going on in our studio!

Currently being bike inspired, probably just getting restless for summer, I decided to start working on a t-shirt design. It's only half done so far, but I'm liking it and really can't wait to get it finished!

(photo & shirt template from threadless)

Also I am working on a coffee inspired tea towel! So far I have my latte cup and now a french press!

ALSO finished Center of Short Attention's blog banner. Onto making a cool background pattern and an "about me" page!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Minneapolis Finds... Favorite Coffee Shops

I really want to share all my favorite spots and finds of the midwest! I am going to start off with my favorite coffee shops of Minneapolis! I love coffee shops especially during the winter, they are a great escape from the weather and gets me out of the apartment. Here are a few of them...

Jackson's Coffee and Gelato is on Lake Street right next to a lot of cool restaurants and shops. I use to go there all the time while I was interning. PLUS they have gelato. How awesome is that?

I have only been to One on One a couple of times (because it's out of my neighborhood) but it is truly a sight. It is part coffee shop part bike shop. There are bikes everywhere PLUS an awesome bike graveyard in the basement. It is pretty amazing. Located on Washington Ave.

Peace Coffee makes my favorite coffee that I buy in the store (I get the espresso blend!). Visiting their unique shop is so much fun, and they make awesome cappuccinos! They are located on Minnehaha.

Spyhouse is a no brainer for us MCADer's. It is just around the corner from MCAD and is a cozy place to relax and do some work. And during the summer it's a nice place to sit out on the patio and enjoy a beverage. (their berry ice tea is the best!) Plus they recently opened a location in Uptown.

Urban Bean is total eye candy for me. It has some of my favorite graphics and illustrations on their wall. And they have some pretty cool merchandise to match. This place is super modern and I love their latte's. They too just opened at a new location. They can be found on Lyndale or  Bryant.

Happy friday everyone!!
